Video 1 Music Video Projects

A STAPLE of the video production class. Probably the most popular project we do all year, and one of the toughest for the students. Please sit back and enjoy the hard work that goes into producing these music videos.

Although we do not have the "legal" rights to the following music, it's use is intended soley for eductional purposes

"Sabotage" - by McCune, Adams, Campbell

"In a Cave" - by Roosa, Stucky, Harmon

"Secret" - by Hogan

"Too Legit Remix" - by Townsend, Parker

"Fallen Angel" - by Dimaggio, Ramon

"Freshman" - Reed

"Blurry" - Anthony, Rachakonda

More to come!

CARES Grant supports SHS Video Production

In December I embarked on a journey to find funding for additional resources for the Saline Community Television Network (SCTN) and the community. A CARES grant was written and in February I found out that we had been awarded over $11,000 towards the purchase of 10 new Apple iMAC computers.

from Apple.com

With this additional resource, the station now has the functionality to teach community members video editing and introduce to more people what we do at SCTN. Working through the Saline Community Education, we will be holding our first video class geared for adult community members on July 22-24th from 6-8pm.

While setting up the computers, some of my video students decided to create a short thank you video borrowing some music from the Apple commercials.

Thank You CARES!

Graduation is upon us!

Again this year, the Video Production classes will be taping the event and producing a DVD that is available for purchase. Sales proceeds go towards the purchase of new equipment and maintaining the old (a never ending need).

If you are interested in purchasing one of these DVD's, please fill out the following order form and bring it to the HS office.

Thank you for supporting our program! We hope to see you there.

Middle School Digital Book Talks

A couple months ago I was approached by Staci Nazarath, our awesome and VERY enthusiastic middle school librarian. She introduced me to a new(er) trend in libraries that involves the use of video to create Digital Book Talks. These are essentially movie trailers for books used to promote reading.

My students collaborated with Staci and students from the middle school, creating trailers from seven of the students favorite books they selected.

The project was a GREAT collaborative experience that utilized many forms of technology to get to the final result. Staci set up a WIKI to get us started (http://digitalbooktalks.pbwiki.org/), then we would post a rough cut on our server, the students would watch it and record feedback for the high schoolers to listen to the next day. Thank you Staci for making this so successful for all of us and helping with the editing process.

Below are the results of all the work. Enjoy!

SCTN @ Carousel Musical

On February 21st, the VP2 class set up a mobile studio in the auditorium and a crew of 8 taped the musical "Carousel". It was a great shoot with our standard 3 camera setup and a live switch. We even added our new direct to DVD technology as a backup. The show is now in post for cleanup and adjustment of sound levels. A full DVD with submenus and "behind the scenes extras" will soon be produced. 100_0269.jpg

Thanks to the crew for making it a great show! More pics HERE.
