Middle School Digital Book Talks

A couple months ago I was approached by Staci Nazarath, our awesome and VERY enthusiastic middle school librarian. She introduced me to a new(er) trend in libraries that involves the use of video to create Digital Book Talks. These are essentially movie trailers for books used to promote reading.

My students collaborated with Staci and students from the middle school, creating trailers from seven of the students favorite books they selected.

The project was a GREAT collaborative experience that utilized many forms of technology to get to the final result. Staci set up a WIKI to get us started (http://digitalbooktalks.pbwiki.org/), then we would post a rough cut on our server, the students would watch it and record feedback for the high schoolers to listen to the next day. Thank you Staci for making this so successful for all of us and helping with the editing process.

Below are the results of all the work. Enjoy!
