Progress Continues

The site improvement changes are progressing. The area around Pleasant Ridge is a completely different environment than it was a few weeks ago, before school let out. The construction project has dealt with weather and various obstacles but still continues to make great strides towards completion.

Major changes!

The day after school was out for summer break, the construction project took on a new phase. The parking lot and both drop off areas have been torn up and Anglin Civil Constructors, LTD have really made major changes to the outside of Pleasant Ridge. The heavy construction work is underway and all community members are reminded that this area is now completely restricted to personnel associated with this project. We will continue to add new pictues as the improvement site continues to change.
The new playground equipment decision process has also started to near it's final stages. There are a few remaining details that need to be worked out. There is going to be some new and very exciting equipment for our children to play on and enjoy!
Please continue to check back for new pictures of changes that are taking place.

Update!

The progress at Pleasant Ridge is very exciting! There is so much work that has taken place over the last two weeks. The school grounds are changing daily! As the site improvement continues through summer, please remember that there will be no one allowed on site at Pleasant Ridge, other than authorized workers. All playground equipment and general grounds areas will not be accessible to community members. We plan to have grass by the time school starts in September. Of course this is very much dependant on the weather and many other factors. The majority of the areas that will need new turf will be hydro-seeded sometime in mid August. Given that we do not have irrigation, sodding is not an option. Typical turf seeding will give us some cover in about 30 days. It will be thin and will require some fertilizing and, of course, some rainfall. We will have to be cautious about continuous traffic and over use.

Construction Begins!

Today, Wednesday, May 28, 2008, construction officially began at Pleasant Ridge Elementary. The contractors for this project, Anglin Civil Constructors, LTD, have place orange fencing around the construction area to protect the community and the students at Pleasant Ridge Elementary. They will continue to mobilize their equipment onto the property and will do selective demolition while the students are still in school. Mrs. Sheila Light and Mr. Doug Bacon are in communication with one another and with the contractors. The safety of our students and our community members will remain the priority. The main playground area just outside the Media Center is still open for our students to enjoy during the last few days of school. As soon as school is dismissed for the summer, all areas at Pleasant Ridge will be restricted to only those involved with the project. We will continue to post new pictures as site improvement progresses throughout the summer. Any questions concerning the project, please contact Mr. Doug Bacon at 429-8000 Ext. 8007.
